Australians need to ask themselves whether they want an extreme right wing media organisation intent on creating division at the heart of our media landscape. Time to get Murdoch press out of Australia. Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp is the company behind Fox News, a blatant propaganda machine for right wing politics that was recently sued for peddling false information to its viewers. Fox settled for a billion dollars; money is the only measure of justice in America. Sky News Australia is modelled on Fox News and peddles the same vitriolic lies about centre-left politics downunder. The Australian newspaper, similarly, provides unbalanced editorial skewered to the hard right.
Climate change deniers thrive inside News Corp’s programs and papers. Murdoch controls every tabloid newspaper in every state of Australia and they all toe the hard conservative line.
Murdoch Making Australia Like America
America is split down party political lines, with extreme division polarising the nation. Murdoch fans that fire by supporting GOP MAGA candidates like Donald Trump and his ilk. White supremacy and autocratic rule simmers just below the surface of this country. Culture wars about wokeness, with book banning, government control on race education, and the refutation of a woman’s right to choose about her own pregnancy, are all let loose. Why do conservative Christians have to control what other people do with their own bodies? Why do these folks feel entitled to control the sexuality of others? In the land of liberty why do those on the right want to force others to do their bidding? America was not created as a theocracy by the founding fathers. They created a secular nation with a constitution designed to protect the rights of all those who lived there. Supporters of President Joe Biden are fighting for democracy in the US and Murdoch is on the other side.
Do we want his divisive message peddling misinformation here in Australia, as the loudest voice in the room through News Corp having an oligopolistic/monopolistic presence in the media here.
Murdoch’s Extreme Right Wing Media Influence
Extreme right wing groups in Australia, like Nazis, take inspiration from the gun toting alt-American right. Bullies bearing brute force as their main argument want to silence those speaking up for LGBTQI Aussies. The dominant white cohort feels threatened by the previously downtrodden and disenfranchised finding voice. Murdoch and his minions dog whistle up the racists and Nazis who want to attack and hurt those who are different from them. Indigenous Australians who have been treated like shit for decades and centuries are shouted down whenever they find voice. Individuals like Adam Goodes are booed out of the game he loved for standing up for the colour of his skin. Aboriginal people are tolerated if they know their place.
Stan Grant fronting a public talk show definitely got too uppity for the taste of the bigots and racists who love their idea of a white Australia. Sky News Australia immediately comes out, victim blaming, Stan for causing trouble, as they did against Adam Goodes.
No wonder most First Nations’ people keep their heads below the rampart. The Voice to Parliament referendum will bring out the racists for sure. Those who go around saying they don’t want any change for Indigenous Australians because it will create division and that we are all Australians. Yeh, sure we are, just some of us are much better off than others because of who our parents were. Australians have denied the rights of Aboriginals for decades and let them fester in neglect at the edges of our society. It is like the Liberal Party and the participation of women being based on merit, when a boy’s club exists and has for years.
You can’t treat people like shit forever and then declare it’s a level playing field.
Australian governments on both sides have allowed the media sector to be concentrated into the hands of far too few. In fact, Murdoch and Nine Fairfax are about it when it comes to the mainstream media. This gives these players far too much influence over the nation. The ABC has been consistently attacked, threatened, and economically diminished by successive conservative governments. The management has become timid in the face of this bullying by Liberal and National party politicians. Just ask Stan Grant about this!
Time to get Murdoch press out of Australia for the good of the country. Rupert Murdoch is in his 90s, but his kids are following the same narrow path mining the right wing vein economically. Misinformation, lies, deflections, exaggerations, and loud voices are all the hallmarks of Sky News Australia and Fox News. Opinion based journalism replaces any real investigative journalism in all the Murdoch newspapers and programs. Dumb shit fed to dumb people, who only care about thinking that they are right. Trump is a tabloid politician, a compulsive liar with absolutely no conscience and zero morality. This kind of leader will take humanity into a spiral toward the destruction of our civilisation. Murdoch and his minions dance with devils like Trump for the dollars it brings.
